How we're getting into our art, and how you can too!

“One who is plotting continually how to 'get out of things' will become miserable. One who is plotting how to 'get into things' has a much better chance of becoming happy.”

Message from the Director
Our mission at EMA Artists USA is to help artists flourish and prosper. Today this is more vital than ever. As early as 1951, Mr. Hubbard states in Science of Survival, “The artist has an enormous role in the enhancement of today’s and the creation of tomorrow’s reality.” No matter how talented, artists seldom make their living and receive fair exchange for their artistic works unless they have workable administrative and organizational tools to fall back on. With fierce competition in the art marketplace today, understanding marketing and promotion is also vital to success. That’s exactly where EMA Artists USA comes in. I urge you to become part of our movement.

ARTISTS AND MODELS OF ADMINISTRATIVE KNOW-HOW
A key element of membership in EMA Artists USA is access to the Model of Admin Know-How program (affectionately known as "MAKH"). In this program, an artist/businessperson studies and implements six key points of the Hubbard Management System into their business. This program is scalable and can be applied by a business of any size. Here are three of our members who recently became MAKH Winners, and how it made a difference with their art.

Leisa Collins
I was already familiar with the Hubbard Management System, but I have gained a lot more certainty since doing MAKH. Although I have kept statistics religiously for years, while doing this program I was able to work out what my key stats are, and I created new stats for the two new income streams I am working on that relate to my art business. In the last months I have increased my outflow and have received more commissions than in other years.
While implementing the MAKH program, I have been able to devote a lot of time to the new ventures I am pursing regarding my art while continuing to do the usual and keep up the commissioned art production. I have been attempting to do this for many years but in these last months I have achieved this through being better organized and more accurate in the application of Hubbard Management Technology to my business.

This was the most stabilizing activity that I’ve ever done for my photography studio. Probably my favorite part was the Organizing Board. It was then that I realized that I could expand and hire staff. And that I had to. But now I knew how, and so wasn’t scared to do it anymore.
I also became acutely aware of how much false data there was out there in the business world. I can spot what things are operating correctly and discover the outpoints pretty quickly, then get them out of the process.
I look forward to learning and applying even more Hubbard Management Technology.

I’ll start out by saying I’ve been in business for almost ten years - that’s right! Almost ten years in business and for nine of those years I was a ‘dabbler’ in applying Hubbard Management System. Every step of the Model of Admin Know How program that I implemented into my business operations brought results that I had been trying to achieve for years.
Being a part of the EMA Artists group keeps me accountable to my targets. This has been key to my success, as well as listening to the BusinessWise Podcast every week. I wouldn’t have made it through my MAKH without the group's help and without the help from my study partner. I’m so thankful for this administrative technology and excited to continue expanding as a MAKH winner!

"One of my short stories, The Emperor's Golden Carp, was recently awarded a Silver Honorable Mention by Writers of the Future. This was the second Honorable Mention received by one of my stories during the last year: the first was a 'regular' Honorable Mention, for the story Slaves. As perspective, I should say that in the world of the international Writers of the Future quarterly contest, an Honorable Mention puts you in the top 1% or so of about ten thousand submitted stories for that quarter.
"I don’t submit all stories to Writers of the Future, and I don’t take any contest judging as the final word on which of my stories is 'good,' but my quest is always to write a better, more enjoyable story, so these wins are little lights going on in the dark, marking the way and giving encouragement.
"The photo above is a cover photo of a book I recently published, The Emperor’s Golden Carp and Other Stories, which is a collection of twenty fantasy stories that begins with the title story and also includes Slaves. All the stories would tend to appeal to the native sense of fun, and the justice and kindliness, that exist in all people."
Writers of the Future is prestigious contest for writers and illustrators of science fiction and fantasy. You can read more about Jan at her website DaybreakCreate.com

"In just a few short months I've become really active with my art. I've hung three paintings in a local gallery and sold one of them. I've hung three more paintings in a doctor's office. I did an art show in Maryland and sold two pieces of art. I love making people happy with my art. One customer said my artwork makes her smile every time she looks at my painting. Another customer said my painting will really help him work through something. I mean, how fun is that? I like making people happy with my artwork. That means they're not being unhappy about something else at that moment and that just makes the world a better place."
Astrid was recently featured in Fairfax City Connected. You can find more of her art at AstridsArtStudio.com

"From the moment I started my jewelry line I knew that one day I wanted to be carried by Madewell, one of the largest retailers for women's fashion. Over the years I did pop-up shops with them, but I could never get my foot in the door to be a brand that they featured. I knew that Madewell had teamed up with a company called NEST to offer a special program for handmade artists called 'Hometown Heroes,' but for years I shrugged off the idea of applying, telling myself it would be a one in a million chance to be a part of that so why bother.
"Well… shortly after joining EMA Artists, I applied to the Hometown Heroes program and I was selected! My dream literally came true. But it wasn't because of luck; it was a direct result of applying the Hubbard Management Technology and aligning my purpose and goals with day-to-day actions, allowing me to strategically achieve my goals. I have been selling with Madewell for over six months and Katie Dean Jewelry is now one of their best-selling jewelry brands. Needless to say, I’m hooked on the Hubbard Management Technology. Don’t wait, start learning and applying it now!"

ON THE LIGHT SIDE

This painting was created by EMA Artists USA member, Steve Gill, who spent 40 years travelling to shows all over the United States, selling his humorous artwork and making people laugh. Steve spends his time between Michigan and Florida and this design was a big seller at Florida fairs and on T-shirts.
